It is not random rotation. Here's what it looks like when it's not moving or rotating and also a comparison to a rotating one. The straight movement along the green crossing lines has been explained before on the forum here.
You can get random-like effect by combining different speeds for rotations because then it will rarely be moving exactly the same way it did before. Anyway, you should experiment on your own and see what kind of effects you can come up with :P
